As pretty much everything else took a break for the main show, meaning everyone in the place it seemed was at the What Stage, Metallica delivered on a promise they’d made earlier.

The music begins in earnest on Fridays at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and today was no different. By 3 p.m., each of the 11 stages were fully engaged and Centeroo was jammed with people.

Supposedly, the Olson twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley are here. I’m not surprised. Everybody else seems to be. Even though it is not a sell-out (no official count is being shared yet), it is absolutely packed.

Here we are nine hours after arrival and I’ve found the people. Lots of them. They were out there all along, either coming late to the party or just stuck in traffic.

We arrived at media checkin an hour later than we’d hoped. Not because of traffic. In fact, we saw very little traffic on the super-secret back entrance route that we took to avoid the bumper-to-bumper stuff on I-24.
