Staff Photo by Angela Lewis The Coca-Cola Stage sits in place on the Tennessee River on Friday afternoon. The Riverbend Festival begins next Friday.
Recognizing that the economy has limited travel plans for many people, Riverbend organizers are playing up the “staycation” aspect of the festival, according to Executive Director Chip Baker.
“You can take a trip and not leave the community,” he said. “We haven’t raised the price. It’s still about $3 a day.”
Festivalgoers will notice a few changes. The Bud Light Stage has been moved to a more shaded area. The Riverbend Marketplace will feature more vendors, and 100 tons of sand placed on the riverfront will become Riverbend Beach.
Riverbend pins are available at area Mapco Marts. They are $28 through Thursday and $37 during the festival.
