Christian music artists perform during coffeehouse Saturday at Oakwood Community Church

Staff Report

Organizers of the monthly Oakwood Christian Coffeehouse concerts say they're hoping for a big attendance for Saturday's "big blowout open house."

Instead of an evening performance, the concert will start at 1 p.m. for "a great afternoon of various artists singing some of your favorite songs," said Jim Ganoe.

More than a dozen gospel acts are scheduled to perfor m.

"We will try to end about 7 p.m. so that everyone can go out and see the Fourth of July fireworks at the various locations around town," Ganoe said.

The coffeehouse takes place at Oakwood Community Church of Highway 58. Weather permitting, the singing will be staged outside. Lawn chairs are recommended for seating. Food will be available for purchase.

The coffeehouse will resume its regular first-Saturday schedule at 6 p.m. Aug. 1, with Men of Calvary as the featured act and open-mike sessions for others who feel moved to sing.
