Don't bother with the laundry -- clean clothes are overrated; just slip into your cow costume.

Today, any customer who enters a Chick-fil-A dressed in a full cow costume will receive a free meal in honor of the restaurant chain's fourth annual Cow Appreciation Day.

"Cow Appreciation Day is a great barometer of how passionate our customers are," said Steve Robinson, Chick-fil-A's senior vice president of marketing. "If you're willing to dress up like a cow for a free meal, you're obviously a loyal and even raving Chick-fil-A fan."

Founded by Hapeville, Ga., restaurateur Truett Cathy, the first Chick-fil-A was opened in an Atlanta mall. Today, the chain boasts more than 1,340 locations and last year grossed more than $2.64 billion.

The self-preserving "Eat Mor Chikin" cow campaign began in 1995. In 2007, the cows were recognized as one of America's most popular advertising icons, according to a public vote by Advertising Week.

Customers who dress like a cow from head to hoof today will be rewarded with a free combo meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner). If you're sporting a partial look, you can get a free entree for your effort.
